John Muir Way
The Coast to Coast Green Route
The John Muir Way stretches 134 miles or 215 km across Scotland's heartland, running between Helensburgh in the west to Dunbar on the east coast and Muir's birthplace. John Muir is often referred to as the father of national parks for the work he did in the USA. Born in Scotland his family emigrated to the States when he was only 11 years old in 1849.
The John Muir Way passes through Linlithgow, coming in from the west by way of the Union Canal towpath and leaving to the north in the direction of Bo'ness.
